POLICE REGULATIONS
The Royal Decree of April 2nd 1975 regulates a number of matters taxicompanies and taxidrivers have to stick to.
Some of these stipulations may be of interest to our customers :
Art. 18 It is forbidden
1. to smoke in the vehicle
2. to get in the vehicle when the regular number of seats has been reached
3. to get in the vehicle with dogs or any other animal that cannot be kept on the lap unless the driver has permitted it ( except for guide-dogs for the blind.)
4. to put in the vehicle dangerous objects or packages that, because of their size, nature or smell may harm, dirty, hinder or cause discomfort
5. to get into the vehicle being obviously unclean or affected by contagious diseases
6. to lean out of the windows or open the doors during the ride
7. to dirty or damage the vehicle
8. to throw whatever object out of the car.
The taxidriver’s safety is very important. Therefore legislation has given taxidrivers some rights, within reasonable bounds, to avoid disasters :
Art 13 - 2 Drivers are allowed :
1. to refuse somebody who wishes to be transported over a long distance or to remote places unless the customer’s identity can be recorded - if necessary by the local police.
2. to demand a cash advance for faraway destinations
3. to refuse somebody who is obviously and excessively drunk
Drivers don’t have to take the shortest , but the fastest itinerary, unless explicitly requested by the customer:
Art 14 - 1. Unless explicitly requested by the customers, drivers have to take them to their destination by the fastest way.
